The Arvo Show with Ol' King Cole

Ol’ King Cole was born out of exactly that. A love of the great music of Nat King Cole’s early drum-less trio which was active 1943-1950.

Performing the tunes of the great trio and other artists of the era Ol’ King Cole is lead by Wellington based piano/vocalist Louis Thompson-Munn. Award winning jazz guitarist Callum Allardice joins him along side Wellington City Shake-em-on-Downers bassist, Bert Hendo.

The trio is formidable. Humour and a great sense of banter is the essence to what makes this band a great enjoyment to behold. Great tunes, honest and humble from the time they came from, and a great spirit of performance - from a time where there was no iPod, no Spotify, just musicians in a room making sweet sounds for other humans.
