People in virtually all countries around the world are living longer than ever before. There have always been a few individuals that have lived into their 80's, 90's and even their 100's; however, we now have a rapidly expanding population of older people both in New Zealand and around the world. Interestingly, we seem ill-prepared to answer the question of how to use all this extra time we have been fortunate to create for ourselves.

This has led to researchers beginning to explore the question of how we might age successfully? In this talk we will look at ideas from around the world and various research groups on how we might physically, psychologically, and socially age successfully.

About Dr Nigel George
Dr Nigel George is the Director of the Psychology Clinic at the University of Auckland. Nigel has worked in mental health settings for the past 30 years. He has studied and worked in the UK, Australia and, for the past 16 years, in Auckland.

His clinical work and research interests have focused on people aged over 65. He has been particularly interested in success and ageing, and what research can tell us about these apparently contradictory concepts.

Please register for this talk so we can plan seating for the expected numbers. A $5 donation on arrival at the door is appreciated but not compulsory.
