Are you ready for a fun and entertaining night of debating some thought provoking topics? And... with the added bonus of some friendly competition between Toastmaster's Clubs!
Do you love a good laugh? Please come along and support our clubs, make some new friends, and laugh your night away as our clubs challenge each other in a battle of debating wits.
Debate Rules: Oxford Union style
Chairman: David Nottage, World Champion of Toastmaster will be the chairman.
Tickets: $20 each, paid in cash at the event, or transfer to 02-0100-0454675-00 with your name as reference.
There will be 2 debates, each club taking the affirmative on a moot of their choosing.
3 speakers in each team, each speaker will have 5 minutes and there will be a space for members of the audience to join in.
The speakers of each team are to be chosen by a democratic process. Members of the respective clubs will take a simple vote to decide who should represent their club. In the case of a tie, the president has the casting vote.
Apart from the timing, which will be strictly enforced, there will only be two rules: an absolute respect for freedom of speech and the winners will be decided by a simple popular vote. The chairman will have the deciding vote in the case of a tie.
