Grey Lynn 2030 presents the next edition of the Trash to Trade upcycling event series.

Come meet new friends in the Grey Lynn community, learn how to reduce household and business waste, create new useful and valuable objects, and learn some fun new skills along the way! Family friendly, so bring the kids too!

Event: Upcycling art exhibitions and auction, workshops, visuals, speeches, book signage and music.

Author and award-winning upcycling expert Sarah Heeringa will be on site for a book signing on Sunday, May 19th for the Trash to Trade event! She will be featuring her recent book "Upcycling with Style" and giving tips on how to get started.

From 10:30 am - Workshops will be offered for children and anyone keen to have a go. Children must be supervised by a caregiver. All materials provided. Koha of $5 suggested for each workshop. Maximum number of participants 15 per workshop. Registration on the day.

Workshop 1. Turning plastic bottles into cute planters with Mischa De La Cruz.

Workshop 2. Tinkering or ‘mucking around’ with tools to construct and deconstruct with a variety of waste items otherwise destined for landfill, with Maria Mariotti from Conscious Kids.

Workshop 3. Making musical instruments like shakers and brushes, using plastic soft drink bottles and barbeque skewers, with Brodie Andrews. You can play Brodie's upcycled drum kit when you've made your drum brushes.

The upcycled art auction will commence at 12:15 p.m.
