'John Walsh: Papatuanuku and Us' (31 Oct - 23 Nov 2019). John Walsh's painting practice draws from upon traditional Maori legend to create striking and ethereal landscapes populated by mysterious figures.

A birdman stands above a great expanse, his wings outstretched toward the land. A woman looks though a clearing in the bush toward a brilliant unknown. In other works abstract painterly gestures appear to drift through dark landscapes and above figures like wairua or spirits.

'Sarah Munro: Raukumara' (31 Oct - 23 Nov 2019). Sarah Munro's latest suite of embroidery works is an extension of her ongoing Trade Items series, this time focissed on the Raukumara Ranges on the East Cape of the North Island and the effect of introduced species on the environment. Trade Items is are based on a 1769 watercolour by Tupaia, master navigator from the island of Ra’iātea, who guided James Cook across the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand.
