The 2019 Volume Mapua Literary Festival is a boutique literary festival featuring some of New Zealand’s best and most interesting writers. Organised by Volume, the 2018 New Zealand Bookshop of the Year, the festival continues the series of literary events held in Mapua to benefit the Mapua Community Library. All ticket sales benefit the library.
Gregory O’Brien takes his metaphorical dinghy to the edges of New Zealand, starting with a road trip North and then voyaging out into the Pacific, to lead us into some under-explored territories of the South Pacific imagination, art and literature. Can we re-imagine ourselves as an oceanic people on a small island in a big piece of water?
Gregory O’Brien is a true triple treat: artist, poet and writer. His books of poetry and non-fiction are widely and deeply loved.
Come and hear Gregory in conversation with writer and Marlborough Museum Director Steve Austin.
