Auckland Arts Festival has cancelled its annual closing event Whānau Day in light of the Love Aotearoa Hate Racism (LAHR) rally, which has been planned following the tragic events in Christchurch and is gathering at Aotea Square this Sunday 24 March.

Whānau Day was a free day of entertainment and activities for families, and was scheduled to take place in Aotea Square.

Whānau Day will return at Auckland Arts Festival 2020.

All other Festival events will continue as scheduled with the exception of Te Kuia Me Te Pūngāwerewere, which was due to play in Aotea Square at 11am and 2pm on Sunday. This will now be performed at Waipapa Marae, The University of Auckland, 16 Wynyard Street at the same times.
