Featuring from the USA:
Chris Cain: Guitar & vocals: Chris Cain’s bio is long, from touring New Zealand with the World Blues Revue, to being nominated for 6 “W.C. Hardy” awards, which is the blues world equivalent of receiving a Grammy nomination.
Joe Bonamassa said “Chris Cain is his favorite blues guitarist”.
“One of the best blues men we have today” – Robben Ford
“Chris Cain’s a hot-shot guitarist and a singer with a relaxed style and mature expression of the old blues masters like Bobby Bland and B.B.King” – The Washington Post.
“His full-bodied tone and surprisingly big voice packed a unch that had me and other witnesses reeling” – Guitar Player Magazine
“More than anyone else, anywhere, Cain represents the future of the blues.” – San Jose Mercury News
“Hearing Cain, I get the same goosebumps that I used to get when I heard Albert King and Albert Collins perform.” – Bob Vorel, Blues Magazine
Daniel Castro: Guitar & Vocals: Describing Daniel Castro as a blues artist doesn’t begin to tell the whole story. A highly accomplished guitarist and singer/songwriter with a strong musical point of view grounded in the very best blues traditions is more like it. Combine those talents with original blues-based material and you begin to understand Daniel’s strengths as an artist. Well-known for being a dynamic performer who “leaves it all on the stage” night after night, Daniel brings crowds to their feet with his blistering solos, soulful singing, and tight arrangements.
As he grew up in the LA area, Daniel was heavily influenced by the blues greats Albert King, BB King and Albert Collins. After cutting his teeth is South Central L.A. blues clubs with “Mighty Mouth” Delmar Evans, who worked with the Johnny Otis Show, Castro back other great artists, including Pee Wee Clayton and Little Esther Phillips. He also recorded and toured with many other artists including legendary Small faces singer – bassist Ronnie Lane.
Steve Evans, Bassist: San Francisco Bay Area musician Steve Evans is one of the most sought after bassists because of his ability to adapt his playing technique across a wide spectrum of musical genres. He has backed numerous icons of R&B including Etta James, Bo Diddley, Mary Wells, Charlie Musselwhite, Big Mama Thornton, Tracy Nelson, Lee Dorsey. Pee Wee Ellis, The Drifters, and rock artists Bob Weir & Kingfish, keyboardist Brian Auger, Joan Baez, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Maria Muldaur, Swiss pop star Phil Carmen (featuring Dire straits drummer Pick Withers) and more.
Ron E Beck, Drummer: is a world-renowned and well-respected multi-talented performer, recognized for his "funky drumming", singing, songwriting, and production talent. One of the premier drummers of the Bay Area for decades, he now has acquired a seasoning to his voice that is really quite remarkable; somewhere between Johnny Taylor and Philippe Wynne of the Spinners with a "low down" quality akin to Johnny "Guitar" Watson.
He has performed with Tower of Power, Marilyn McCoo, John Lee Hooker, Lydia Pense Dr. Lonnie Smith and Bill Withers
And From NZ:
Ben Wilcock, keyboardist: Ben's compositions, recording and live performances have earned him stellar reviews and a solid fanbase nationally and internationally. His trio, The Jelly Rolls, perform at as many international festivals as their teaching and mentoring time allows.
Of his recordings, Abraham Kunin of NZ Musician gives us this "It’s good to hear such obviously competent players give the beauty and music latent in a simple vamp or blues from time to unveil itself. This restraint speaks as much to their musicianship as to any technical prowess." Of his live performances, "inescapable sense of fun" and "experienced, tasteful and talented" are the key words.
One of New Zealand's star keyboardists, Ben has hit the stage with Bella Kalolo, Aaradhna, Louis Baker, Nick Granville, Erna Ferry, John Rae and Dan Yeabsley
