Join journalist Mary de Ruyter and award-winning author Caroline Barron as they discuss how Barron's book, Ripiro Beach: A Memoir of Life After Near Death (2020), explores motherhood, grief and trauma, and the search for identity. Dame Fiona Kidman describes Ripiro Beach as "one powerful read". An RNZ reviewer calls it "honest and unsparing", "a really compelling read".

The book sold more than 1000 copies in its first two weeks and has captured Kiwi women's hearts. Barron is also a manuscript assessor, and a trustee of the Michael King Writers Centre. She's won awards including a 2018 NZ Heritage Writing Award, and the 2015 Lilian Ida Award.

Registering is essential due to limited seating; email libraryevents@wdc.govt.nz.

Note: If Whangārei/Auckland are in level 2 close to the event date, the venue will change. Check Fringe website for updates.
