ORA Gallery

The ORA Gallery Team want to keep up to date with recent information about COVID-19 in New Zealand and how this is affecting us at ORA. We are keeping a close eye on the developments, upping our sanitising routine in store, as well as trying to create a clean and safe environment for both staff and customers. In response to social distancing measures and how rapidly this situation is progressing, we have made the decision to cancel the exhibition opening on the evening of Thursday 2nd April for public and staff safety.

We do intend to catalogue all artworks on our Facebook page, promoting via Instagram and offering free freight nationwide where we can. There will be a live Google.doc catalogue available to send to any clients who are not able to make it in store.

Opening Thursday 2nd April
Closing Sunday 3rd May

‘Connection’ a group exhibition featuring work by three fantastic New Zealand contemporary artists Jay Lloyd of Koa Bronze, Lee Gutterson & Paula Coulthard.

Jay Lloyd based on Waiheke Island moved from South Africa in 2010 where he established his own studio and foundry. Jay does a variety of work from jewellery to sculpture and is exhibited throughout New Zealand and in private collections worldwide. "Bronze is one of the oldest materials worked extensively by man, yet it has retained its mystery throughout the ages."

Lee Gutterson grew up across the road from the Pacific Ocean in sunny Napier. It was inevitable that his future work would be connected to the sea. Now Wellington based, Lee's work varies from furniture and joinery to kitchen boards and utensils as well as his extensive collection of quirky characteristic fish and steampunk whales. Lee's fish and marine sculptures are one-of-a-kind and he considers his furniture designs being as expressive as a work of art.

Paula Coulthard uses the Coulthard philosophy to create her work. Creating dynamic forward looking design through reusing, recycling and returning to core materials and concepts - hard wearing natural materials; appropriate use of technology; the beauty of industry; finishing that endures.

Ora Gallery extends a warm welcome to Wairarapa based artist Paula, we look forward to working with you and sharing your journey within our space.
