Enjoy a short walk to visit a bit of Antarctic and Christchurch history in a dramatic setting.

Sir Robert Falcon Scott took this hut south with him to Antarctica on his fateful expedition to the South Pole. It was never erected in the south, but came back and was installed in a garden on Clifton Hill. It nearly tumbled down the cliff in the shakes, but was rescued and relocated to Godley Head.

While at Clifton Hill the cabin was used by several members of Scott's party - including Oriana Wilson while awaiting the return of her husband. Unfortunately Dr. Edward Wilson perished with Scott on the return journey from the Pole.

Members of the Antarctic Society and Rotary Club will be on hand to supply further information and refreshments.

The hut can be reached by walking trails from both Taylor's Mistake and the Godley Head carpark.
