After agonising over why I was so sad about losing my floppy, uneven, cancer-filled breast, I wrote a letter:
"Dear Boobs..."
Dunedin's Suitcase Theatre, in collaboration with the Dear Boobs Project, presents DEAR BOOBS...ON STAGE, an organic reimagining of a selection of intimate, courageous, and often hilarious letters written by women affected by breast cancer.
More than 3300 New Zealand women will be diagnosed with Breast cancer this year - so will 25 New Zealand men.
Join us for our landmark production, taking a selection of the Dear Boobs letters onto the stage, for a sincere, authentic and respectful story-telling performance.
All letters are valuable, all are informative, and every single one is a reflection on a deeply held relationship and a life-changing episode in a woman’s life. We hope that, when hearing these sacred conversations, you will feel that you are among noble company, and that you will more fully understand that your own relationship with your boobs (breasts, bosoms, tits, or whatever you call them) really does matter.
Accolades for recent Suitcase Theatre productions include:
"Thrilling theatre and some terrific performances"
"Fantastic shows. Actually stunned."
"Mightily impressed with your work. Some challenging material carried off brilliantly."
"This bold little theatre company sprang to life in Dunedin four years ago, and I have yet to see it produce something unworthy of its high ideal: to make theatre with heart."
Recent awards presented to Suitcase Theatre includes:
Outstanding Community Production - Dunedin Theatre Awards 2018
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Dear Boobs Project, to assist them in continuing their efforts to share wisdom, inspire healing, and celebrate breast cancer communities.
