Decoupage comes from the French word decouper meaning to cut out. Paper cut-outs are reassembled and designed and then glued to a painted or gilded surface. The most traditional technique includes applying 30-40 layers of varnish which are sanded to a beautiful smooth sheen. However, today’s decoupage is evolving with new styles including the use of paper napkins and fabric.
This workshop will introduce you to the basics of decoupage, using standard and tissue paper. You will leave with three decoupaged items. All materials will be provided.
