Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This presentation will explain why early detection of dementia is vital for successful treatment. I will discuss my research, a longitudinal study of frontotemporal dementia that aims to identify dementia at its earliest stage, before clinical symptoms appear.

About Dr Brigid Ryan
Dr Brigid Ryan is a neuroscientist working at the Centre for Brain Research, University of Auckland. She has expertise in neurodegenerative disease and a particular interest in early biomarkers of dementia. She is currently leading a multi-disciplinary longitudinal study of the earliest changes that occur in dementia.
