Further the life of an existing garment with a sustainable approach by incorporating new or old fabric and trims into an existing item of clothing to alter, mend or remodel.
Description
Garment alterations and repairs? We all have garments in our wardrobes that we no longer wear but cannot bear to throw out or give away so let’s do something about it and learn how to turn it into a desirable wearable garment once again!
Bring your garment(s) along to this class and lets re-model, mend, alter and change it up so that it can have another life. We'll think sustainably, and look to incorporate recycled fabrics and trims to furthering the life of your favourite items of clothing.
You'll also need to bring your sewing kit, and pieces of new or used fabrics and/or trims you wish to incorporate into your project.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Assess garments that have potential to be altered or mended
- Recognise sewing methods that can be applied to garments to remodel, alter and/or mend it so that it will become a desirable item in your wardrobe once again.
- Identify feasible and suitable changes that can be made to garments
Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly.
