Hallelujah! Celebrate the Christmas season with the time-honoured tradition of Handel's Messiah. An annual tradition in Tauranga, “Mr. Handel” reappears to conduct the much-anticipated baroque-inspired performance of his greatest oratorio. Hear the work performed with all the energy and lightness that Handel intended, presented by baroque specialists Scholars Baroque Aotearoa Chamber Choir and NZBarok Orchestra, conducted by Chalium Poppy and joined by a stunning line up of New Zealand soloists.
Handel's epic oratorio relates the story of the life, death and resurrection of the promised Messiah encompassing the full range of human emotion - hope, despair, triumph, intimacy, hatred, thanksgiving and joy. King George II, so moved by the famous Hallelujah Chorus, rose to his feet upon hearing it. Be similarly moved, delighted and inspired when you join us for this 6th annual performance of Handel's Messiah.
Delight in the irreplaceable experience of a stunning live performance in a year when, due to lockdowns and distancing restrictions, most of the world cannot.
Be the earlybird - don't miss out this year! Last-minute cash door sales only if not sold out prior.
Free Pre-concert talk at 7 pm by Dr Indra Hughes.
