NZ Flax - Harakeke is the most enduring of all New Zealand native plants, a natural resource and easily accessible.

From plant to product, in this workshop you will learn the skills of weaving with NZ Flax - Harakeke.

This workshop will include the techniques of weaving and plaiting along with being taught the cultural customs of working within the sustainable practices of tikanga and the values toi raranga (the protocols of flax cutting and handling which surrounds this time honoured craft).

Whatever your weaving experience, this workshop will further your weaving skills. From beginners to intermediate weavers we will add to your skill base to develop your weaving to the next level.

Day One is an Introduction to Harakeke- NZ Flax which is great for beginners or to refresh your harakeke weaving skills.

Day Two will build on your skills to create the larger Kono Food Basket

There is the option to attend for either one day or two depending on your skills.
