In honour of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Puke Ariki presents He Tohu Virtual Reality He whakapapa kōrero, he whenua kura - Talking about our past to create a better future.

This virtual experience, created in partnership between Te Rua Mahara o Te Kāwanatanga (Archives New Zealand) and Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa (National Library of New Zealand), takes you on a guided tour of Aotearoa’s three constitutional documents.

Discover the history of He Whakaputanga (Declaration of Independence of the United Tribes of New Zealand), Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi), and the Women’s Suffrage Petition with the latest VR technology.

You can learn more about Taranaki’s connection to our founding documents by visiting Te Pua Wananga o Taranaki (The Taranaki Research Centre) on level two of the Puke Ariki Library.

He Tohu Virtual Reality is on every day from 12-2pm, 6 February – 1 March.

Free sessions, no bookings required.
