History of the Rotorua Bath House | Te Hītori Te Whare Kauora o Rotorua

Friends of Rotorua Museum are hosting a special talk by Ann Somerville.

The talk will explore the rise and fall of the Great South Seas Spa and will take place in the Rotorua Lakes Council Chamber (Hinemaru Street).

Ann Somerville worked at Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa, located in the iconic Bath House building, for 23 busy years from 1990. During that time she was part of a team that traced the story of the then dilapidated building, worked to restore her and interpreted the story in an award-winning exhibition.

Taking the Cure took cues from the building itself, the story of the Great South Seas Spa and what became of it. Ann will follow this story in this informative illustrated talk.

Entry is by gold coin donation. Please RSVP by 28 July to Janette Irvine kjirvine@xtra.co.nz
