Homeward Bound: CANCELLED

Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2 and the return of those who served overseas.

World War Two came to an end 75 years ago this year and across the world, the troops began returning home after serving overseas.

Around New Zealand over that year and even the next, the people waited with anticipation for the return of their loved ones.

Join them on the quayside as the announcer says that the ship is in sight.

Witness the arrival of the troops and the greeting they receive including a haka and a Powhiri for the 28th Maori Battalion.

Hear the speeches from that time given by "dignitaries" as well as contributions from some of those returning.

Listen to the music of the Motueka Brass Band and the Flightless Bird of New Zealand and join in with the dancing.

Come in 1940's period costume and enter into the spirit of the event.
