Born in Aotearoa, and with roots in Europe, I have left these shores over a dozen times to take up opportunities overseas. I always return. This time I returned during a lock down, in the middle of a global pandemic. This short video work reflects on notions of home, transience and departure which I now contemplate as a dance-maker in constant relocation.

In making this site-inspired work in Muriwai, we acknowledge mana whenua, Te Kawerau ā Maki.

Filmed and edited by Ralph Brown, choreographed and performed by Pablo Sansalvador.

This work will be available on our website on August 11th, and then on the Tempo Instagram and Facebook until the end of August.

Born in New Zealand, Sansalvador is a dance instigator. He has performed, choreographed, taught and produced works with companies, theatres and festivals in Denmark, Germany, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Originally graduating with a scholarship from Rambert School (London), he went onto complete a ‘Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Design and Innovation, with First-class Honours’ from the Open University in the UK and was awarded a Masters Degree in Product Design from the Superior Design School in Barcelona.
