The Japanese Film Festival is an annual event held to encourage the growth of Japanese culture and understanding in New Zealand. Each year, we try to give the people of New Zealand some insight into the culture, customs, and traditions of Japan, alongside what is popular with Japanese society today, through film.
All films will be in Japanese with English subtitles.

Machida is an ordinary-looking high school student who is academically and athletically inept but does like people and he is loved by those around him. One day, an encounter with a certain individual awakens feelings within Machida that he has never experienced before. On top of that, he comes to realize that being kind to everyone can also hurt a special someone, and Machida’s world turns upside down.
