Karori Cemetery Tours, Murder Mayhem, Heroines Housewives

Two tours on offer - Murder & Mayhem (5.00pm, Weds 1 Jan, 10.30am, Thurs 2 Jan, & 10.30am Sunday 5 Jan). Hear stories from behind the headstones - the first burial, victims of a gun cotton explosion, drowning, and an occupational event, as well as a tragic murder mystery.

Heroines & Housewives (1.30pm, Saturday 4 January). Women who lead extraordinary lives feature - the first woman registered as a dentist, business women, a murder victim, and suffrage campaigners, amongst others.

Tours begin at the Crematorium Chapel, the charming brick building a short drive from the main gates (which will be open every day). There is plenty of parking in the area. Tours will each last about 1.5 hours, and are easy walking. Cost is $10 per person, payable in cash at the start of the tour. Children under 12 are free. Good dogs, on leads, most welcome.
