Friends of Karori Cemetery will be running it's ever-popular tours of the oldest parts of Wellington's largest heritage site during Sunday and Monday, Queen's Birthday weekend:

Tours are 1.5 hours duration, over easy terrain, and cover the development of the cemetery from it's opening in 1891, Stories from behind the headstones include the first burial, accidental deaths, a Prime Minister, a murder story, Aunt Daisy and other women of note, and much more.
Suitable for all ages, not suitable for those with limited mobility.
Bookings are essential - email friendskaroricemetery@gmail.com to reserve your place now.
Tours, which are outdoors throughout, will be limited to numbers required under Covid-19 regulations, and social distancing will be observed between groups. Advice re cancellation (poor weather) will be provided at least 1 hour prior.
Meeting place - outside the Small Chapel, 300 metres from the main gates (adjacent to Karori Fire Station). Lots of free parking available.
$10 per person, children under 12 years old free.
