Brent Harris
'latching doors, opening blinds' is an experimental text that responds to J.M. Coetzee's (1999) 'Elizabeth Costello'. Coetzee's novel explores the relation between humans and other animals, and relations between author and work. 'latching doors, opening windows' engages the novel's episodic structure and an ethics-politics of continuity and discontinuity.
Brent Harris is an artist and writer living in Tāmaki Makaurau. Working primarily in performance, Harris has presented work widely in Aotearoa, as well as in Europe and Australia. Recent projects include '"strange gestures"' in Artweek Auckland (2019), and 'Traffic Sounds, Traffic Lights' at Performance Philosophy Prague (2017). Harris holds a practice-led PhD in performance from Auckland University of Technology.
