Led by professionals, in this kids photography workshop you’ll learn how to take a great photo using lighting, exposure, perspective, focus, and more.

From plants with water droplets, to fossils and moa bones, from flax baskets and tapa, to fruits and vegetables – there’ll be a variety of setups with spotlights, photography umbrellas and backgrounds just waiting for you to take creative snaps.

Our expert team will be on hand to share hints, tips and show you what to do. Join Paul Le Comte, local photographer and Otago Wildlife Photography Competition judge, Julie Meikle from Photo Warehouse, and Kane Fluery, Otago Museum Natural Science Assistant Curator and photographer.

Thanks to Canon, all participants will be able to take home a print of their favourite image from the day.

Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to sustain you over the morning. There may be some downtime during the workshop, so if you have an iPad, smartphone, or laptop, bring that along too as there are lots of online photography ‘how to’ videos you can practice with.

This workshop is suitable for all types of cameras, including smartphones.

Limited numbers, book online or at the Info Desk.
Suitable for participants aged 7 – 13 years.

All participants must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. (Although the focus will be on the children participants, the accompanying adult may also bring a camera and participate.)
