Join us at this Centenary Dinner as a celebration of Marlborough’s rich aviation history.

The Marlborough Aviation Community has a lot to celebrate, and this dinner is a great way to mark the depth of aviation activities in the District, including the launch point for the first crossing (by air) of Cook Strait and the Tasman Sea, NZ’s first Municipal Airport (Omaka), the arrival point of the Clouston Comet that raced from the UK, the home of Safe Air, right through to the establishment of the world famous Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre.

The first Cook Strait flight 100 years ago sparked a strong municipal interest in aviation, with the Blenheim Borough Council making available the Omaka Domain for an airfield. Marlborough Aero Club was one of the first aero clubs in the country, and the first with its own planes. The Royal New Zealand Air Force has been based in Marlborough since World War II.

Marlborough has a premier airline, an RNZAF base, provides world-class restorations, and has more aviation history than any other province in New Zealand. It continues to develop and grow and is one of the most significant airfields in NZ.

This evening event will be held at the stunning venue of Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. Your ticket includes a welcome drink and a two course buffet dinner along with a cash bar. The Airforce Band will be performing.
