Musical Mangawhai presents a fundraiser for Te Whai Community Trust and the Hakaru Hall. A night of rustic blues with the Mojo Risers from Waiheke Island will feature local songstress Kiri Eriwata and bluesman Mark 'Fatt Max' Hill.

The Mojo Risers have been entertaining Island-goers with their freight-train acoustic blues folk-rock for over 20 years. Aaron Carpenter (guitar/harp/vocals) and Neal Ghoshal (guitar) regularly raise the roof during their gigs on Waiheke and are thrilled to team up with Mangawhai local Kiri Eriwata again after a few years hiatus.

Inspired by and playing tracks by artists such as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Tony Joe White, Neil Young and JJ Cale, The Mojo Risers also love to share their own songs. Kiri brings her own versions of soulful blues to the mix for a footstomping showdown event.

In 2017 Aaron Carpenter and The Revelators released and toured their album 'Pretty Lies' nationwide and Kiri Eriwata released her album 'Muse and Memorabilia' in 2016 to rave reviews. Yet this collaboration along with Mojo Riser Neal Ghoshal, is a take on the other side of the tracks, often improvised and off the cuff, you sometimes never know what to expect - which keeps everyone on their toes.

The last few months have been a whirlwind for Kara Gordon aka Karz Gordox. From touring America as a live guitar gun for hire and doing his own blues solo shows in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

He has now just signed a management deal with Value Added Talent. Dan Silver who has helped launch and further careers for some of the biggest acts in UK.

In his time as a musician, Karz landed some pretty top gigs too, opening for Slash, Ozzie Osbourne, Elton John, Parliament, Doobie Brothers, Alice Cooper, Kiss, and Joe Satriani.

He has played with Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Fly My Pretties, Alabama 3 and members of Pink Floyd. He has toured America New Zealand Australia, Switzerland, Ireland, and Germany as a guitar player for hire, soloist and with his band The Wreckage.

Karz will be playing tunes he has recorded in London to be released worldwide in the next few months, as well as some tunes from his back catalog and covers of some great blues, paying homage to traditions to the blues authenticity, while adding his brand of flare and interpretation.

Venue is the historic Hakaru Hall. 733 Settlement Road, 10mins from Mangawhai Village towards Kaiwaka.

Tickets are $25 + credit card fee ($3), $30 cash only on the door, children under 13 are free
