Ever wondered ‘which native plant is that?’ Now’s your chance to take this self-guided walk through mixed-beech forest to explore the wonders of Bobs Cove, thanks to Wakatipu Reforestation Trust’s downloadable guide – easy to view on your phone, print it or find the laminated info cards at the start of the walk.

On this 20 min one-way walk (ideal for kids) you’ll see the kowhai, fuchsia and rata trees that border Lake Wakatipu, feeding nectar-loving birds such as bellbirds and tui. The tender shoots of the flowering kowhai and fuchsia are eaten by the kereru, our native pigeon. The track also passes through one of Wakatipu’s last remaining mature stands of red beech.
