'Very comprehensive and hands on practical ideas to take back to my classroom. Celia you are very inspiring. Thank you for your relaxed and friendly presentation. Most enjoyable' - Kathy, Primary school teacher
Celia Hogan (Christchurch), joins us (after a sell out 2019) with an inspiring, empowering day for ECE, Primary Teachers, Parents, Un-schoolers and Homeschoolers.
There's a Sunday extension course for those who did the 2019 workshop, or those who would love ***2*** days.
Here's the Sunday 'Place based learning in a play based pedagogy' workshop link: https://bit.ly/Placebasedlearning
Celia is the brainmother behind Nature Play Conference.
Saturday workshop for Teachers | Parents...
'Nature and the Curriculum: Play based Learning in the Outdoor Classroom':
This 6 hour workshop will cover:
Benefits of nature play
Schema, loose parts and risky play
Recognising learning and linking the curriculum
The role of the teacher in the outdoor classroom
Risk management and group management outdoors
Making Fire with Flint and Steel
Whittling with Knives
This 1-day workshop will build the confidence of educators who want to educate children through nature in either their own natural environment or a local nature space. It will provide skills, knowledge and ideas to support children's play in an outdoor environment while helping to make links to the both Te Whāriki and The NZ Curriculum. Aimed at ECE and Primary Teachers, Parents, Unschoolers and Homeschoolers there will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and networking.
About Celia
Celia Hogan is passionate about getting children outdoors and into Nature. She is a strong advocate for child led play, nature play, risky play, building resilience, and improving mental health and well-being through nature. Celia originally studied outdoor recreation and adult education. For the past 20 years she has worked for a variety of outdoor education and personal development organisations. Celia works hard to change the face of education in New Zealand. She led a petition on the steps of parliament to enable full time nature-based kindergartens to start in New Zealand and her personal goal is to see every child spending at least 3 hours outside every day. To make this happen she runs professional development training, workshops and conferences for teachers and educators to boost their confidence and help them to get outside every day. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and has survived a variety of crisis' both professionally and personally to give some real depth to her conversations and believes mindset matters. Celia is a natural and welcoming speaker and manages to juggle speaking engagements, running her Bush Kindy sessions for pre-schoolers and their whanau and taking her own kids on mini adventures in nature.
