Olveston

Olveston Historic House was the Theomin family home and reflects an era of gracious living.

Built in 1906, Mr David Theomin wanted to build a home for his growing collection of paintings and artefacts from around the world. He intended Olveston be left to his future generations to enjoy. Sadly this was not to be the case as both his children did not have any children of their own.

Olveston presents an authentic and original historic house depicting the way of life of a well to do family in the early part of the twentieth century.

Entry by Guided tours only and commence at: 9.30 am and 10.45 am, 12 noon, 1.30 pm, 2.45 pm and 4 pm (reservations recommended. Group bookings at other times available on request: olveston@xtra.co.nz).

Tours are 1 hour (spend longer to appreciate the garden, architecture, the restored 1926 Fiat Tourer or browse in the shop).

Tours are available in English. Group tours in German, French, Japanese and Dutch are available, prior notice required.

Parking around the Olveston Historic House is limited, parking permits are available on request from reception.

Olveston is open 364 days of the year.
