Join the ever-popular Peta Mathias – cook, raconteur, traveller, writer, singer, and TV star at a Gala Afternoon Tea on Saturday 11 July from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Supper Room in the Anzac Hall.

Peta will be doing a cooking demonstration, tasting, and reading from her new book, Eat Your Heart Out: Love Stories from Around the World. She will entertain us with unusual, sometimes naughty, stories from the book which includes a recipe for artichokes well known for their erotic symbolism, and the story of roses - there's nothing like a steamy, full-frontal, powerful rose to set the heart beating.

Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea, lovingly prepared by Featherston Booktown's famous Country Tea & Cakes team of volunteers.

A carefully curated mini produce fair will be held in the Anzac Hall before and after this event. Lisa Birell from Pure Wairarapa will be promoting and selling some of her favourite products and other artisan producers will also be there to tempt you to do some retail therapy.

This will be an exclusive fundraising event for Featherston Booktown and will be limited to 50 people. The tickets, available on Eventfinda, are $195 plus booking fees.

Peta's book will be for sale and she will sign your copy.

“I am so excited about coming to Featherston Booktown and helping the team there raise funds to keep their community organisation sustainable post lockdown. Traditional funding and sponsorships are tight for festivals now and many writers have had their incomes slashed due to COVID-19. I admire their drive to bounce back and create opportunities for writers, poets, and audiences and I encourage everyone to treat themselves and their loved ones to this gala afternoon of stories, songs, fashion and great food,” says Peta.

This will be a wonderful way to treat yourself or your loved ones post lockdown. Peta's zest for life is totally infectious, and being with her will be the best legal tonic available!
