On April 4th 2020 we’re running a huge public cleanup of Porirua Harbour, from Kaitawa Point to Pauahatanui Wildlife Reserve – thanks to our amazing sponsor Pitstop.

Sustainable Coastlines will be running educational presentations all around the area to local schools, highlighting the dangers of single use plastics and litter on the marine environment.

To finish off this education programme with some real solutions-based action we’ll be inviting everyone along for the cleanup.

We’re enabling local community groups to run their own cleanup ‘stations’ to have the biggest possible impact on cleaning up the rubbish found in and around the harbour.

There will be numerous stations all around the harbour where volunteers can sign in, pick up their gear and drop off the rubbish. Everything will be provided including health and safety documents, equipment and refreshments. This way we hope to have as broad an impact as possible and tap into the local knowledge for rubbish hotspots.

All participants must register via the link on the website!

Run Sheet for the day:
12:00pm – Sign in at your local station and pick up gear – map of stations to come!
12:15pm – Health and Safety Brief
12:30pm – Cleanup commences
2:00pm – Return all rubbish back to relevant station and grab a snack and some refreshments
2:30pm – Event Ends

Sustainable Coastlines will provide:
- All relevant Gear: Gloves, Sacks,
- Health and Safety documentation & training of briefing
- First aid trained staff and 1st aid kits,
- Sunscreen
- Hand Sanitiser
- Organise Rubbish pickup
- You should remember
