'Portals' exhibition offers the opportunity to view a range of artworks in pencil, watercolour and acrylic paints by Mairangi Arts Centre tutor and practising artist Susannah MacDonald.
Susannah is a Graduate from Unitec with a Bachelor of Design and Visual Arts, majoring in painting, where she was able to explore the themes which have always dominated her practice – that of the relationship between the physical world and the metaphysical. Her practice is informed by the natural sciences, palaeontology, mythology, history and music. She describes herself as a’ paper person’, for although she works in oils and acrylics on canvas, most of her work has been executed on paper. She also works in aquarelle pencils, watercolour, gouache, graphite pencil, and ink.
