Recycled from its inaugural 2019 performance for the Wellington Jazz Festival 2020, drummer Liam Prince of The Rubbish Trip once again brings you the upcycled concert, Resoursonance - an afternoon performance of original and recycled songs, spoken word and improvisation, exploring themes of wastefulness and resourcefulness.
The brilliant musicians joining Liam will perform on a mix of upcycled and modified instruments: you'll hear the usual suspects - drums, vocals, horns, strings and keys - as well as more unusual jazz machines – tea-chest bass, lagerphone, taonga pūoro and other upcycled creations, made from all sorts of things - from trash to trees - sourced from the tip shop, op shops, the bush and the street, homes and workplaces. Expect to participate on some musical junk...
At its core, Resoursonance shows that music's role isn't just to entertain, inspire and educate - all of us must walk the talk too. Resourcefulness is not only a creative tool for music-making; it is a waste-conscious approach that enables us to live life with minimal environmental impact. As such, we'll also be walking the talk for the concert: in collaboration with The Third Eye, this will be a zero waste event!!
Tickets: $20 (waged) - $5 (unwaged)
