Social work has emerged as a global profession over the past 20 years, with shared definition, ethics, and education standards around the world. Yet social work looks different and is practiced differently in national and local contexts.

Visiting Scholar Professor Emerita In Young Han, Ewha Womans University (South Korea), will consider how international social work has contributed both globally and locally to identifying and defining social problems such as inequality, migration, intimate partner violence and substance misuse. She will present examples from her own research and practice in Korea and Asia more widely.

Her lecture will be of interest to professional social workers in New Zealand, the Korean community in New Zealand, and to the general public who cares about how critical international problems are affecting New Zealand.
