All Ages

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ministry of Heath’s further restrictions on mass gatherings announced 19 March, we regret to announce that our high tea services at Alberton have cancelled. All ticket holders will be refunded in full.

Alberton and Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga would like to thank-you for your interest in this event. We look forward to organising the high teas in summer 2021 and hope you’ll consider coming along! To follow our activities, hear about upcoming events and support heritage please follow Alberton 1863.

'There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.' Portrait of a Lady, Henry James, 1881.

Gather a group of friends and don your finery for your annual chance to celebrate and savour the traditional ritual of high tea at beautiful Alberton, a historic homestead built in 1863.

For this one weekend only, enjoy dainty sandwiches, scones, savouries and cakes with a showcase of luxury teas from Harney & Sons, served from vintage bone china and antique silverware on tables adorned with antique linens and floral displays. Soak up the beauty of the grand ballroom or the tranquil garden from the verandah.

The tea services run from Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March with two sittings at 11am & 2pm. Come along for morning or afternoon tea or consider it a light luncheon.

With delicious bites (three savouries, scones, two mini cakes) prepared by award winning caterers Little Wolf and tea or coffee, tickets are $45 per person. For full indulgence add a glass of bubbles (Lindauer Vintage Series Rosé, Brut or Free) for $8.

Tickets include a goodie bag and entry to explore the house (usually $10).

Always an occasion, tickets make a lovely gift for birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions. If you are keen make sure to book promptly as these events always sell out in advance of the dates. Bookings are absolutely essential.

All proceeds support Alberton and Heritage New Zealand in caring for 44 historic properties around the country as well us undertaking the wider work of the organisation in the promotion, protection, preservation and conservation of historical and cultural heritage of New Zealand.

Thank God Its Friday afternoon treat! Use the promo code - TGIF2020 - for 10% off Afternoon Tea at 2pm on Friday 27 March.

IF YOU ARE PART OF A GROUP who are booking separately please let us know so we can seat you with your party.

Please note: apart from Friday 27 March 2pm all the services have now almost sold out so online tickets are no longer available. More may be released closer to the time. Please contact Alberton to be added to a waitlist.

Please note that the menu is vegetarian but includes a salmon blini. Those with severe allergies must note that other items containing gluten and nuts are prepared in the kitchen. In order to preserve Alberton's original Kauri floors please refrain from wearing very fine stilettos. For any queries please contact Alberton at or ph 846 7367.

Tickets are non-refundable except in the case of cancellation of the event.
