Macabre to some, and yet beautiful to others.

For those curious about the age-old practice of taxidermy come along for an informative talk on the process of taxidermy and the way it can be presented as art. Join Antoinette Ratcliffe in a step by step investigation into her wonderful world and the process that surrounds it.

Antoinette’s practice explores anthropomorphic association using a variety of media, including her own taxidermy, where the animals find themselves in relationships created out of circumstance. She only uses ethically sourced animals for her taxidermy pieces, installations, and photographs.

The concepts of memento mori continue to influence Antoinette’s current body of work, giving the pieces an awareness of a quiet and sometimes sinister suspense, while maintaining a whimsical aesthetic.

With all our events we are following the current Covid-19 Alert Level 2 guidelines from the Ministry of Health to keep you and the team of 5 million safe. Seats will be spaced out to socially distance attendees, and there will be contact tracing and hand sanitiser available also.

Please note that this talk contains video footage that some may find upsetting.
