What does the founder of Weta Workshop, a professor of law and an outrageous drag king have in common? They are all Wellington made.

Wellington Museum invites you to celebrate local heroes at the launch of Lucy Revill’s The Residents: Made in Wellington.

Five years in the making, the book shares inspiring stories from 38 Wellingtonians and how they were shaped by our vibrant capital city. Each chapter offers rare vulnerability, a behind-the-scenes look at how they live and work in food, fashion, arts, small business and more. Featuring Fat Freddy’s Drop’s Chris ‘Mu’ Faiumu, twenty-seven names’ Anjali Burnett and Rachel Easting, Eboni Waitere of Huia Publishers, Sophie Kasoylides of The Greek Food Truck, Vijay Parbhu of Dixon Street Shoe Repairs, and Monique Fiso of Hiakai, amongst many others, the collection boasts an incredible variety of homegrown talent.

The launch includes a panel discussion The Residents: the many chapters of our lives. Wellington Museum’s Anton Carter and three featured residents explore: coming to be in Wellington; life around Covid; and dual careers and creative moonlighting.

Wellington Museum collects Wellington stories. Join us for an evening of celebrating the people that make Wellington so, well, Wellington!

Please RSVP over on our website.
