Toby & The Rest Jazz Quartet

Live Jazz on a Summer's Evening with 'Toby and the Rest' jazz quartet.

The Base Cafe is a licensed cafe and art-space, providing the finest cafe cuisine and air-roasted coffee in a showcase of art and music. Created by locals for locals, it captures the essence and diverse creative spirit of Titirangi Village.

​Toby & The Rest's four pupils from Avondale College. The award winning quartet consists of Max Barrett (Drums) Toby Barrett (Saxophone) Tyler Diprose (Bass) and Lucas Kewell (Piano) they will be playing a variety of jazz pieces ranging from Joseph Kosma and Burt Howard from the 1950's to Joshua Redman in the 90's. Lucas Kewell will also play some of his own impro-solo-piano with hints of Michel Legrand, Keith Jarrett and always a hint of Chic Corea.

The quartet have played a few gigs out west and have been invited back several times at Cafeone2one in Ponsonby. People have left those gigs inspired at the skill and passion of their playing, close your eyes and you would have no idea that these lads are all in their mid teens. Toby and the Rest are definitely the Coolest, Youngest, Hottest jazz quartet around. Live music from 6-30 onwards. Koha for the musicians.
