The Treaty180 exhibition at Tauranga City Library commemorates 180 years since Te Tiriti o Waitangi was signed at the Bay of Islands on 6 February 1840 and then in Tauranga Moana on 10 April 1840.

Come and find out why there was a need for a Treaty, the true meanings of Articles 1, 2 and 3, and learn how each article was broken.

Read quotes about 'What the Treaty means to me' written specially for this exhibition by Jacinda Ardern, Helen Clark, Tenby Powell and Buddy Mikaere.

The Treaty180 exhibition runs from Friday 24 January 2020 to 30 April 2020. Entry to Ngā Wāhi Rangahau: Research Collections on Level 1 of Tauranga City Library is free.
