Repair Cafés' reduce pressure on the planet by supporting a repair, reuse, re-purpose life cycle. Upper Hutt Repair Café aims to recreate a culture of repair- not replace- as an experienced local shares their skills and helps you to repair your items. Keep your fixable items out of landfill and give them a new lease on life.

Free event, but koha appreciated.

Repair Your Items
Our talented volunteers are available to assist you with repairing your:

- Wooden and Mechanical Items
- Clothing and fabric belongings in need of mending
- Sewing Machines
- Jewellery
- Bikes and scooters
- Toys
- Household electrical goods (eg lamp, toaster)

Tools and expertise provided. Please bring along your broken goods and any parts you know will be needed to fix your item (eg replacement button) If you are unsure, arrive early to get your item assessed. Koha appreciated.

Learn a New Skill
Nothing to repair? Come join in and learn a new practical skill:

- Make bunting from fabric samples
- Sew a Boomerang Bag
- How to take accurate body measurements
- Create a cushion cover from upcycled fabric
- Learn to make preschool pyjamas from scratch (Confident Beginners)

All equipment provided- just come along and learn with us. If you have fabric you would like to bring in to make your own bunting with feel free to do so. Koha appreciated.

Donate Your Small Hand and Garden Tools
We will accepting donations of secondhand surplus tools to put towards a local tool library in the near future.

Recycle Goods and Upcycled Kidswear With Earthlink
Earthlink will be collecting broken/unwanted goods for repair or responsible recycling. If your goods cannot be repaired at the Repair Cafe you have the option to donate them to Earthlink on the spot- or drop in any unwanted items you may have at home. See https://www.earthlink.org.nz/recycling for a full list of what they will accept.

Earthlink Kids will also be showcasing their sustainable kidswear which uses quality, repurposed source materials – primarily high grade/industrial grade merino - that would otherwise have been destined for landfill. Clothing items range $5-$25 in kids sizes 1-5, and cosy Merino Sleeping Bags from $60. Follow Earthlink Kids on Facebook to see their full range.

Our Fundraising Café
Food 4 Thought will have fundraising refreshments available for purchase at our Café- feel free to come down for a chat and see what we are all about!
