Us Kids
DIrector: Kim Snyder | 96 min | 2020 | United States

“A coming-of-age story about young people dealing with horrific trauma, and how they are using it as a catalyst to try to make sure no other students experience a similar tragedy.”
– 'RadioWest'

After 17 of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School community in Parkland, Florida, are taken by senseless gun violence, the teenage survivors give voice to their rage and transform it into action.

Determined to turn unfathomable tragedy into action, they create a powerful, unprecedented youth movement that spreads with lightning speed across the country.

'Us Kids' follows this group of teenage activists over the course of 18 months, as they set out across the country to reinvigorate the debate on gun reform, building an inclusive, unprecedented movement and shocking a stagnant political system into change.

Director Kim A. Snyder, who also made the Peabody Award-winning documentary 'Newtown', is no stranger to films about gun violence. Her short film, 'Lessons from a School Shooting: Notes from Dunblane' won at Tribeca and Sheffield.

Here, she delivers an insightful, rousing story of a generation, allowing the movement's leaders to give the definitive account of what it means to be a young person living in a country terrorised by gun violence.

'Us Kids' is an elegy for those who have been lost, a dedication to its survivors, and a rallying cry to join the fight.
