Claire Mulholland from Burn Cottage and Grant Taylor of Valli have a history of making wine together spanning over two decades. Having had the pleasure of discovering many of the sub-regions of Central Otago in the region’s early days, they are now at two separate estates but have remained close friends and colleagues.
Over the course of several months – and several bottles of wine - in 2013, the Valli and Burn Cottage winemaking teams decided it would be great fun to exchange small parcels of grapes from each other’s vineyard as a way of gaining further understanding of our own sites, and of course having the pleasure of working with each other again. We each make a very small amount of vineyard-designated wine from those grapes and release them together each year.
Come join us at the beautiful Central Art Gallery, right next to Cellar Door in the Arts Centre, for one night only as we celebrate the fifth release of the Valli and Burn Cottage “Great Grape Swap” wines. Winemakers from both estates will be on hand to share the story, and of course the wines, from this unique collaboration.
Standing tasting, admission from 5pm for a 5:30pm start.
Tickets $30 including wine tasting and canapes from the Cellar Door kitchen.
