Come along to our info evening and hear more about becoming a volunteer telephone support worker.
Support workers provide immediate support and practical advice to parents calling our parenting Helpline.
Calls are taken from home at times that suit you.
This is an opportunity for you to help parents in a time of family distress and give back to your community all the while developing and enhancing your communication skills and knowledge in child and adolescent development and parenting.

Special skills required:
Fluent in English
Excellent communication skills
Expected personality
An understanding and empathetic listener who is non-judgmental, flexible, and reliable.
Hours are rostered. We expect you to do one 3-hour shift per fortnight.
Shifts are weekdays from 6pm-9pm and weekends from 9am-9pm. Shift times can be flexible to suit your schedule.
Full training is provided and consists of 7 sessions. Topics covered include self awareness and listening, child development, adolescent development, recognising child abuse.
Volunteers need to be available to attend training sessions in Wellington.
We provide monthly supervision and regular support.
