Please help us to finish Johnsonville's newest walking track!

If you love Johnsonville and want to be part of community efforts to extend our walking track network (and improve our biodiversity!), come & help next weekend.

Totara Park is a 2.3 ha. a patch of regenerating native bush that was ignored for decades. The Johnsonville Community Association is now planting hundreds of “heritage” native trees and building a new walking track to enable pedestrian access between McLintock St (South) and Broderick Rd. We’re also installing a new picnic table with one of the best views in J/ville!

It is nearly 4 years since we started the project, and now we’re commencing the “big push” to get the track completed before summer. And we need some help, please!

We have a small and passionate team of JCA volunteers, but many hands make light work, and we need yours to help finish the project! We’ll have jobs for all levels of physical ability, so please don’t be shy about pitching in.

Please bring: A snack & water, warm clothing, sturdy footwear, gardening gloves, and BYO spade (if you have one).

We’ll meet at 1 pm on Saturday (17 & 31 October, and 14 November), at the top of the track, just downhill from the bus shelter on McLintock St (South). The meeting spot is 80 m down McLintock St. from the nearest house (which is 74 McLintock St.). We'll finish up around 4 pm, but will welcome volunteers to stay as long as they can join us.

Please send us an email to let us know you’re coming, and so we can contact you if “rain stops play”. To register, contact Graeme Sawyer: Graeme.Sawyer007@gmail.com.

We will be running these track building sessions frequently between now and December 2020.
