A playful movement exploration of the relationship between art, the artist and the audience, The Art of Observation aims to dissolve the invisible line between artist and audience, ability and disability, and encourage accessibility in the arts through dance, integrated audio description and audience inclusion.

The Art of Observation is a site-specific event, inspired by the architecture of the Academy of Fine Arts and selected artworks in the 28th Annual Wallace Art Awards NZAFA Exhibition, and plays on the theme of observation.

Leading the audience on a one-hour journey through the exhibition, the dancers pause to tell stories and explore the deeper themes of the art on the walls and the architecture that holds them through movement and audience participation. By offering a different perspective through layers of sight, sound and touch, audiences will see and appreciate their surroundings afresh.

The Art of Observation will be a relaxed accessible performance.
Audio Descriptions available. Suitable for Deaf audiences.
