Meet an icon of New Zealand politics! The self-taught son of Irish immigrants, devout Catholic, passionate King Country farmer and lobbyist, to Prime Minister of NZ. Jim Bolger is a self-made man who rose to the height of NZ politics.

We're honoured to have him share his views for NZ's future and stories from a colourful life in and out of politics!

From Official launch of Yarns in Barns: Wairarapa Festival of Reading by former Prime Minister, Jim Bolger, followed by Jim Bolger in discussion with David Cohen, author of the new book of Bolger’s reminiscences titled Fridays with Jim: Conversations about our country.

For six months the pair sat down on Fridays to reflect on Bolger’s life and times, our nation and the world. Fridays with Jim reveals a quintessential Kiwi man who is fully in sync with New Zealand today.

Join us at Copthorne Solway Park for what is sure to be a riveting discussion and toast the official start of this year's festival!

Ticket price includes refreshments.

This event is part of Yarns in Barns: Wairarapa Festival of Reading which takes place between 8–18th October, 2020 with an eclectic range of events and venues from Mt Bruce to Martinborough. View the full festival programme at yarnsinbarns.co.nz

Presented by Hedleys Books, Fraser Books, Masterton District Library, Wairarapa Library Services and Kokomai Creative Festival Wairarapa.
