In 1961, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin boarded the Vostok 1 spacecraft and made history as the first person in space. In 108 minutes, Yuri orbited Earth before landing by parachute in a field, much to the surprise of an unsuspecting farmer and her daughter. Gagarin later recalled, "When they saw me in my space suit and the parachute dragging alongside as I walked, they started to back away in fear. I told them, don't be afraid, I am a Soviet citizen like you, who has descended from space and I must find a telephone to call Moscow!"

Every year on April 12th Yuri’s historic journey is marked with Yuri’s Night, an international celebration of Yuri. Join us at Stardome for Yuri’s Night 2020 and watch a space exploration show presented in the 360-degree planetarium dome.

The evening includes a glass of wine or beer (R18 with valid ID) and snacks.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the show. Late entry is not permitted.
