As a teacher of Speech and Drama and Performing Arts, Gaelynne is constantly adapting stories and novels for her students to perform, and devising plays for them. Gaelynne says, “Children are harsh critics and I'm constantly learning what does and doesn't work.”

Outside of her teaching, Gaelynne mainly writes plays and poetry. Her children's plays I've Got a Dinosaur in my Backyard (with Kath Bee) and Rapper Gnomes have won awards with Playmarket, and Down on the Farm was shortlisted in 2013.

As well as continuing to write plays for children, Gaelynne has started writing adult plays and recently completed a ‘Politically Correct’ Western, From Serenity to Eden. While most of her plays are for the stage, she has written the odd one for radio, and was runner-up with Olga the Goose in the NZ Radio Drama Competition in 2006.

Gaelynne’s talk will be followed by a meeting of the Richmond Writing Group. Both events are free and everyone is welcome.

These events will only take place if we are at Level 1.
